What is Network Marketing?
Direct selling is a method in which independent-agents serve as distributors of goods and services, and are encouraged to build and manage their own sales force by recruiting and training other independent agents.
In this method, commission is earned on the agent's own sales revenue, as well as on the sales revenue of the sales-force recruited by the agent and his or her recruits (called downline).
Also called multilevel marketing (MLM), cellular marketing, or by other such names, it is a multi-billion dollar worldwide industry that distributes practically any portable item.
Said to have been pioneered by the now-defunct California Vitamin Company in 1941, it is a method employed by large firms such Amway, Kleeneze, Avon, Forever Living Products, Arbonne, Herbalife, Utility Warehouse and many many more. (source: businessdirectory.com)
My Own Personal Experience with Network Marketing in 2004:
When i returned from 16 months of travelling around Asia & Australia in 2004, i decided to set up my own business and i signed up to be an Independent Distributor of a company called Ecoflow Plc. The company had patented a very powerful magnet that was used in wristbands & bracelets to help reduce pain and a number of other ailments in humans and animals.
The products were great, and whilst i valued the education and the experience of running my first ever business, i decided to close the company 3 years later after struggling to grow my downline.
